City Worship Centre - Joe Cruse

What is City Worship Centre all about?

Worship

"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."  John 4:23-24

The Word of God

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."  Hebrews 4:12

Giving (of finances, time, talent, etc)

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Luke 6:38

Demonstration of God's Power

"When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.  For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.  I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.  My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power."  1 Corinthians 2:1-5

Reaching the Lost

"Then the master told his servant, 'Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full." Luke 14:23

WE EXIST TO:

1.  Train and impart the heart of worship to musicians, leaders, and the church as a whole

2.  Advance the kingdom of God in the earth

3.  Fulfill the Great Commission

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."  Matt. 28:19-20

WE'RE FUELED BY:

The vision of Ephesians 4:12-13  “… to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are a New Testament Church

(Heb. 10:24-25; 1 Tim. 4:11-16)

- Reaching out to our local community in the Austin, Texas area.

- We are an international church, reaching out to the world through global evangelistic and missions endeavors.

About the Bible

- We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired and is the revealed will of God.

(2 Tim. 3:16;2 Peter 1:20-21; Deut. 4:1-2)

About God

- We believe in the triune godhead of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

(Matt.28:18-20; Luke 3:21-22; 2 Cor. 13:14)

- We believe God created the universe by His Power and Word.

- We believe that God is all knowing, all powerful, and ever present.

About Jesus Christ

- We believe that Jesus was the Son of God and sent by God the Father into the world to save sinners.

- We believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead victoriously.

- We believe that He ascended to His Father’s side where He is the head of the church.

- We believe Jesus Christ is returning back to earth personally, visibly, and bodily to reign as Lord.

(1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 2:22-28; Acts 13:28-38; John 1:1-3, 14; Matt.1:18-23; Heb. 1:1-3, 8-9; 1 John 3:5)

About Salvation

- We believe that to receive salvation, one must be born again according to John 3:3 and Romans 10:9-10.

- We believe that all who have received Christ will at death depart to be with Christ in their spirits and at Christ’s return receive a new body which will be like His glorious body.

About the Holy Spirit

- We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

(Acts 1:4-5, 8; Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:2-6)

- We believe that all believers are endowed with certain spiritual gifts. (Rom. 12:1-8, 1 Cor.12:18-28)

About Baptism

- We believe that all believers should be water baptized as commanded in the Scriptures.

(Matt.28:19; Acts 10:47-48)

About the Church

- We believe a New Testament church is a local body of baptized believers who have agreed together to worship Jesus Christ, edify the believers, evangelize the lost, and minister to others.

(Heb. 10:24-25; 1 Tim. 4:11-16)

- The church has two ordinances: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new life we have in Him.  The Lord’s Supper is a reminder of Christ’s death and anticipates His Second Coming.
